The Hotel... Afternoon Tea
"If man has no tea in him, he is incapable of understanding truth and beauty."
- Japanese Proverb
The Tea Hall is the scene for that quintessentially aristocratic experience – the Afternoon Tea. In Victorian times between the day’s activities and the evening meal, house guests would gather to discuss the day whilst sampling that relatively recent sensation to hit Europe – tea. Coupled with classic cakes and delicacies this is a delightful tradition that lives on today at the Chateau Mcely.
Pouring our tea from a lovely Russian Samovar into classic porcelain cups, nibbling our home-made sweets and savouries, surrounded by the sumptuous setting of the Tea Hall – can any environment be more conducive to the discussion of truth and beauty?
"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."
Henry James: The Portrait of a Lady.
