Our backyard
The five-hectare English-style park which surrounds the chateau was established around 1840.
Within the park there are two historic trees – a large-flowered oak (over 150 years old with a trunk circumference of 418 cm) and a summer beech (over 200 years old). The northern part of the park is flat and enhanced with a path of ancient oaks. The southern part, beyond the level terrace, leads down to St Vaclav’s church. The rugged nature of the terrain in the park offers endless possibilities.
After a thorough clearing, which is now in progress, we will begin to tend to the trees which have been neglected for decades. Then, we will continue by planting herb gardens, building a natural spa in a log house at Jeskyňky (the cave), planting a meadow of wildflowers on Palouka (the meadow), and renovating all of the original footpaths in the park.
